The legal professional at the sponsor firm will then discuss possible next steps, including whether their firm is the proper one to handle the matter.

If the sponsor firm evaluates the facts and legal principles at work in your case and decides that it is proper to proceed, they will send you a retainer agreement.  Be aware that you will not have a legal relationship with either the professional or the sponsor firm until that retainer agreement is executed.
